Kamp Vught

Kamp Vught, officially known as Konzentrationslager Herzogenbusch, was built in 1942 in Vught, North Brabant, based on a German model because the transit camps Westerbork and Amersfoort did not have sufficient capacity. For Jewish prisoners, the camp served as a transit camp; many were deported to Westerbork and subsequently to extermination camps in Poland. It served as a concentration camp for Jews, Sinti and Roma, Jehovah’s Witnesses, gay people, political prisoners, hostages, and other groups persecuted by the German occupiers.
